We are looking for a number of Terminal Security Officers to join the security team at Stansted Airport to start in January 2018.
In this role, you’ll get involved in anything from searching customers and their luggage, through to operating equipment like x-rays and observing screens. Patrolling our sites is also a big part of these roles, and you’ll be expected to make decisions and take action fast.
Not only is this an exciting role, but when you think about how many customers pass through our airports each year, you realise that it is also pretty challenging too - especially during the busy summer months.
You don’t necessarily need experience as we offer full training, but you do need to have a passion for delivering excellent customer service, initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach and perfect colour vision.
There is a 3 week initial training period on a full time hours basis (paid accordingly) with attendance on each day compulsory.
We are currently offering permanent annualised hours contracts in addition to a small number of set rosters, based on either 16 or 20 hours a week (please see below). Our annualised hours ‘super-flex’ contracts are based on a guaranteed minimum of 1040 hours a year, which equates to 20 hours a week, paid monthly in arrears. Due to current passenger volumes, colleagues on super-flex contracts are typically working 30 hours a week, with quieter periods expected in January and February. Colleagues on these contracts may be required to work additional hours, especially during peak periods – Easter, Summer and Christmas. Flexibility is therefore essential, as both hours and shift patterns can change at a week’s notice.
In recognition of this flexibility, super-flex contracts attract a shift premium of 27.5% paid on the 1040 guaranteed hours worked each year. Our rate of pay is:
£10.14 hourly rate rising to £11.22 (after probation), plus shift allowance (27.5%). Please note - this will be paid and shown on payslips as a set monthly value.
Shifts – shifts will vary between 4-12 hours in length dependant on business requirements and cover a 24/7 operation. Shifts will include working as early as 01:00 starts, late finishes, night shifts, weekend and bank holiday working.
For individuals who are only able to work set hours, we are pleased to offer a small number of part-time positions on our core rosters. These are:
20 hr – late only shifts (male opportunities only at present)
20 hr – early only shifts
20 hr – night only shifts
16 hr – weekends only shifts (male opportunities only at present)
The above set pattern contracts pay a £10.14 hourly rate rising to £11.22 (after probation) plus a shift allowance of 17.5%.
