Research Integrity Director, Springer Nature
Do you care about the integrity of published research and have the skills and knowledge to develop and implement best practice in this area? If so, this could be the job for you.
Springer Nature is committed to taking a proactive approach to preventing and addressing publication misconduct and encouraging sound and reliable research practices. We’re now looking for a Research Integrity Director to take our activities in this area to the next level – in cooperation with various stakeholders to develop research integrity policies, processes and best practice that we can apply across all of our 2,800 journals and 13,000 books.
This newly created senior position, reporting directly to the Springer Nature Chief Publishing Adviser, will lead a dedicated team that: ensures our journals and books adhere to editorial best practice; supports in-house staff and external editors in handling/resolving integrity issues/retraction cases; and provides central services such as reporting, training and journal audits. The successful candidate will also lead Springer Nature’s external communications in this area, representing the company at Committee on Publication Ethics meetings and other industry forums, and translating industry best practice to our policies and processes.
We’re looking for a candidate who understands how research is conducted and has a very deep knowledge of editorial and publishing processes. She/he will need to have great communication skills, to raise awareness of publication ethics issues for all stakeholders involved in the conduct, reporting, evaluation and publication of scientific research in our journals and books. The ideal candidate will have direct experience of handling research integrity issues, as well as an understanding of how to manage multiple stakeholders in a matrix organisation.
In return we can offer you the opportunity to shape the policies and practices at some of the most influential and interesting research journals in the world, to lead a committed and passionate group of people, and to work with the research community to preserve and improve the integrity of the scientific record.
Deadline for receipt of applications is Sunday 29th April 2018
Please include with your application a copy of your Curriculum Vitae and a statement about your vision for how Springer Nature should support the research community in preventing and addressing research integrity issues.
