Nature Microbiology seeks to appoint a Locum Associate or Senior Editor.
We are seeking to appoint a Locum Associate or Senior Editor to join our exciting team, dedicated to publishing original research in all areas of microbiology and developing the highest standards in editorial practice. The successful candidate will play a key role in determining how the field of microbiology is represented - through the editorial assessment of manuscripts for publication, management of peer review, commissioning and writing of content and by acting as Nature Microbiology's interface with the relevant parts of the research community.
This is a demanding and intellectually stimulating position, and call for a keen interest in the practice and communication of science. A key aspect of the job is interaction with the scientific community, including attending international conferences. The successful candidate must, therefore, be dynamic and outgoing, be prepared to travel and have excellent interpersonal skills.
The successful candidate will need a strong track record of research in microbiology. Experience in virology would be strongly preferred.
Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent degree, with post-doctoral experience preferable. Previous editorial experience is beneficial but not essential.
