Nature Reviews Gastroenterology & Hepatology has a vacancy for a full-time Locum Chief Editor, for a period of 6 months initially.
The locum will be expected to fulfill all the requirements of the Chief Editor’s role. The successful candidate will be expected to drive the direction of the journal over time through their own knowledge of the subject areas and by working closely with the internationally renowned Advisory Board and contributors. Day to day you will manage a small editorial team and oversee copy flow, commissioning and peer-review to ensure the quality and timeliness of the journal’s content. You will also be expected to develop and contribute to special projects. The job is based in our modern London offices but some travel to conferences will be required. The successful candidate must, therefore, be dynamic and outgoing, be prepared to travel and have excellent interpersonal skills. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrable experience of editing, editorial processes and line-management and who have a PhD in the journal’s field or another biomedical science.
Nature Reviews Gastroenterology & Hepatology is an international monthly journal that covers a wide range of topics relating to the pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases affecting a diverse range of organs in the gastrointestinal tract, including the oesophagus, stomach, pancreas, liver and bowel. Basic, translational and clinical aspects of inflammatory disease, cancer, autoimmune disease, nutrition, infectious disease and transplantation are considered and include discussions of genetics, microbiology, immunology, neurogastroenterology, epidemiology, imaging and surgery.
