Job Title: Editorial Assistant- Applied Sciences and Engineering
Location: New Delhi
Reports to: Executive Editor, Applied Sciences & Engineering
Our Editorial Assistant role offers the opportunity for you to develop your career within one of the world’s most innovative and influential publishing groups. You will provide the essential support Springer editors need in their publishing activities to ensure smooth functioning of publishing programs.
As part of the role you would be responsible for:
Processing contracts, forms and other documents necessary for the editorial process.
Managing day–to-day trafficking of manuscripts on to various workflows systems to ensure that the books are published in a timely fashion.
Communicating with authors, reviewers, colleagues around the world, including editorial, production and marketing.
Ensuring that product information is provided and kept up-to-date.
Managing the author and technical reviewer database.
Coordinating pre-publishing activities and production related work for various Springer subject titles.
Analyzing manuscripts, copyediting, and proof-reading to ensure timely preparation of manuscripts in a form suitable for production.
Coordinating production activities to meet publishing deadlines.
Supporting marketing activities by managing emails and logistics, or even by participating in the events/conferences, if required.
Providing backend support for journal publishing and coordinating journal workflows.
Education and skills required:
Education: Bachelor’s degree with science background (preferably into Applied Sciences and Engineering)
Experience: 1 to 4 years of experience in publishing and/or copyediting.
Good communication skills with excellent command on the English language.
You should possess excellent organizing skills with the ability to multi-task and work under deadlines.
Must be able to learn and adapt to new tools, technologies and internal workflows quickly.
Tools: Expertise in basic MS office (Excel, Word, power point).
Travel: Some travel required. Candidates must be willing and able to travel occasionally. <10% travel requirement.
